Olympic Torch Comes to Southwold

On the 5th July 2012 the London 2012 Olympic Torch will be making its way through Southwold in Suffolk

The Towns and villages across Suffolk are getting set for the Olympic flame to visit as it travels across the country heading to London for the start of the 2012 Olympic Games.

The Olympic torch route has been officially announced and it will take in 16 towns and villages in Suffolk.

Suffolk’s part of the Olympic torch journey will start at lovely Lowestoft on Thursday the 5th of July before it continues to make its way via Wrentham, Reydon, Southwold, Kelasle, Saxmundham & Aldeburgh before making its way through the rest of the county.

Sebastian Coe has said: “This is the UK’s moment to shine and I want to encourage people across Suffolk to start planning how they can be part of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and show their support for the inspirational torchbearers chosen to carry the Olympic flame as we count down to the start of the Olympic Games.”
