The landlord of the Harbour Inn is facing a big repair bill after a river burst its bank and flooded the pub
Fortunately the Environment Agency had issued warnings- this meant that preparations and could be made and the damage could be limited. Sadly even with advanced warnings areas of the pub were set to be under two feet of water. The estimated damage is set to cost around £5000 and the pub will be closed for at least 48 hours while the cleanup operation takes place.
Landlord Nick Attfield could be forgiven for being despondent but took it in good humour, claiming the flooding was an “occupational hazard” and that the area “is a nice place when it’s not being flooded”.
After issuing 13 warnings the Environment Agency has now lifted those warnings and the clean up can now begin.
