Author brings Southwold together

After raising hundreds of pounds for the Southwold community hall, writer Judy Simmons arranged a special event sharing historical memories with local people

Town councillor Michael Ladd praised Judy Simmons’ donation from her book Growing Up In Southwold saying “We’re so very pleased Judy has donated the funds from her book to the hall. The money she has raised from her book, we would like to use to build a shed to keep all our tools in and we would like to dedicate it to Judy.”

However she was not the only person to donate on the night- other donations also included a set of historical photographs donated by Keith Rous while Judy’s daughter Angela assisted at the tea stall, raising a further £43 that was donated to the local Scout Hall.

Local photographer Keith Warren (who bought photos of the local area) praised the event saying “The hall has been a bit of a pet project for a number of years and I’m always very interested in Southwold things. I thought it would be a nice idea to be able to have the photographs around the hall.”
